The Center for Knee Arthritis
Tristate Arthritis and Rheumatology
The knee joint is commonly affected by osteoarthritis. It causes knee pain with activities such as walking, going up or down steps, squatting, and kneeling. It can also cause pain after the knee has been kept in a bent position, for example, after sitting for a meal at a restaurant.
One of the most effective and safe treatments for knee arthritis is a joint injection with either a steroid (“cortisone shot”) or a medicine to lubricate the knee joint (“gel shots”). These injections do not have to be painful. At The Center for Knee Arthritis we first give a local anesthetic to numb the area. We then use an ultrasound machine to visualize the inside of the knee as the medication is being injected. This method maximizes patient comfort and ensures that the medication is exactly where it needs to be -in the knee joint!
Because of the growing need to care for those suffering with knee arthritis, Tristate Arthritis and Rheumatology has expanded as The Center for Knee Arthritis with two new offices in Montgomery and Southgate. Dr. Joseph Temming is accepting new patients at both locations. Dr. Temming has over 22 years of patient care experience and is certified in the use of musculoskeletal ultrasound for administering joint injection therapies.
Our goals at The Center for Knee Arthritis are to educate patients about knee osteoarthritis, treat the symptoms so that they can be more comfortable and active, and to avoid or delay the need for surgery.
