Osteoarthritis, Gout, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Spondylarthritis – Can Arthritis Be Cured?…

Is Arthritis something that can be cured? If you have painful inflammation and joints that are stiff, or you have been newly diagnosed with arthritis you want to know what to expect for your day-to-day life. Unfortunately, there is no cure for arthritis, however, there have been improvements in the treatment for arthritis in the last several years. Tristate Arthritis & Rheumatology are here to help you with diagnosis and treatments for a healthy life living with arthritis. Types of arthritis include Osteoarthritis, gout, rheumatoid arthritis, and spondylarthritis.

Determining Whether Or Not You Have Arthritis

What is the difference between the normal aches, pains, and stiffness we feel and the early symptoms of arthritis? People commonly have pains and stiff muscles and joints from time to time. How can you tell if it is time to make an appointment with your doctor?
If you are feeling sore after vigorous exercise, that pain should dissipate after a few days. If the pain doesn’t go away, or you have an inflamed joint that was not injured, that is when you need to see a doctor. Try to make an appointment soon because the earlier you get an arthritis diagnosis, the quicker you can help alleviate your pain and make lifestyle changes.

An exam and some tests are used by your doctor to find out if you have arthritis. They will talk about your medical history as well. X-rays are the most common test for a doctor to check for arthritis. They could also order an MRI or ultrasound. Blood tests aren’t diagnostic for all types of arthritis but could help narrow down choices.

Arthritis Treatments

Your doctor could prescribe a vast array of treatments for your arthritis. Sometimes painkillers, NSAIDS, and corticosteroids help to relieve inflammation and pain.

Physical therapy also helps with relieving arthritic pain. Certain exercises can improve your range of motion and muscle-strengthening exercises help the joints surrounding the muscles. If medication and therapy do not help, your doctor may suggest surgery.
