In March, 2023, Gov. Andy Beshear signed Senate Bill 47 into law, legalizing medical marijuana in Kentucky starting on January 1, 2025. However, following the practices and policies of the majority of medical doctors in the area, until more comprehensive research and evidence-based recommendations for the use of medical marijuana are available, Tristate Arthritis & Rheumatology Physicians and Tristate Arthritis Rheumatology will not be providing patients with written certifications for medical marijuana. Patients who are interested in obtaining a medical certification can request a copy of their medical records to seek this certification elsewhere.
We encourage everyone to familiarize themselves with the available medical literature and applicable laws regarding medical marijuana. For more information on the legislation, you can visit https://kymedcan.ky.gov/Pages/index.aspx.

About Tristate Arthritis and Rheumatology
Tristate Arthritis and Rheumatology is the first and largest Rheumatology practice in the Northern Kentucky area. Founded by Dr. Arthur Kunath in 1986, our rheumatology practice now consists of six doctors who are board certified in both Internal Medicine and Rheumatology and a Physician Assistant. Patients see one doctor (except in emergencies), thereby assuring continuity of care and an individualized docteor-patient atmosphere giving the physician the ability to establish personalized and detailed relationships. Our doctors have received numerous awards, including being listed as “Top Doctors” in Cincinnati Magazine, receiving the Patient’s Choice Award, the Most Compassionate Doctor Award, and the American College of Rheumatology’s “My Doc Rocks” award.
